CARLO SALVI was established in 1939 by Mr. CARLO SALVI.His
father was Italian, but he was born in New York in 1907
and returned to Italy with his family when he was 8 years
old. His father served in the Italian Army during World
War 1.He started his own Company in 1939 with the purpose
of building mechanical descalers to process hot rolled
rod. A few thousands of these machines have been sold
all over the world.Although these machines were successful,
Carlo Salvi's aim was to manufacture new and more complex
machines. His new adventure began in the late 40's with
the design and production of a flat die thread roller.
Very soon this was followed by a family of head slotters
and finally, in 1952, he built his first single die two
blow toggle header. The success was immediate. The machine
was reliable, low-priced and high speed. It performed
particularly well for the production of recessed-head
screws (Phillips and similar) and a complete range of
these machines was produced within a few years.
